Manual Process

If your tree is set up by hand synchronization, you can sync it on request while working on the Family Tree Maker app. There are two methods to sync manually.

Step 1: Synchronize manually using the System Screen

Step 2: When the connected tree opens, select Edit at the top left of your app screen.

Step 3: Select the Current Tree tab. It may help if you have a tree that you want to sync open in Family Tree Maker for Mac. Click the file menu and select “Open …” and select the appropriate tree on your PC.

Step 4: Search Tree Sync – Access the Ancestry box in the center of the screen and click the Sync Now button.

Option Two: Synchronize yourself using the Sync Status icon

Synchronizing Family Tree Maker with your Ancestry account is very easy! You have to go to the top right corner of Family Tree Maker, click the Sync status icon, and then click Sync Now. Click on the Ancestry tab from the release menu, then click Download. That’s all! You will now be able to view all your essential family information in your Family Tree Maker account.
